Collateral PR For STEEM Still Qualifies As PR

in #steemit5 years ago

In an article published 4 hours ago on Cointelegraph, Netcoins is presented as a "Canadian startup bringing crypto to everybody":

Netcoins, a company based in Vancouver, BC, Canada, has a global retail network of 170,000 locations in 53 countries across six continents, where people can easily walk into a store to buy Bitcoin and altcoins with fiat.

Yes, it's the same Netcoins that ran the contest for a free listing that was won by STEEM, a couple of weeks ago.

What's very interesting, though, is that STEEM got a bit of "collateral" PR in this article, and I quote:

Netcoins recently ran a special coin listing contest where users could nominate and vote for their favorite altcoin. 83 coins were nominated and the cryptocurrency Steem took home the top prize. They will get a free listing worth $30,000 on Netcoins’ platform.

First of all, I didn't know there were 83 altcoins nominated. Coming first in a list of 83 contenders is even more impressive.

And second, the fact that STEEM won that contest keeps snowballing into something more and more powerful and sometimes this happens in unexpected ways.

Steem on!

Wanna know when you're getting paid?

I know the feeling. That's why I created steem.supply, an easy to use and accurate tool for calculating your Steemit rewards

It's free to use, but if you think this is a useful addition, I'd appreciate your witness vote.

Thank you!

Collateral PR is the best, because it's more subtle, it "costs" less for those doing the PR (in "credibility risk") and it's better received by those who are able to receive it (smarter than average people who are able to "read between the lines") and who usually are the leaders and early adopters and influencers

wise words :)

Steem On!

I'll take collateral PRs anyday as long as they benefit steem

you are one of the best guy for steem on steemit

I wonder how many of that 83 has valid use case, governance, etc - I can remember the superficial but lovely Dentacoin but that's all.

E.g. rumors say that Verge is a piece of shit

There is a momentum building, there's no doubt. And to be ranked around 40th on coinmarketcap.com at the moment means there's so much more to come...

True about the momentum building. But I also remember the times when STEEM was the third crypto currency after Bitcoin and Ethereum, during July 2016... For a very short time, but still...

It would be excellent if steem regains this place and it is possible. I had no clue about cryptos back then

Your memory is longer than mine but history can and often does repeat itself... Stranger things have happened

Steem won because of this great community.

Hope Steem can get listed on bigger exchanges like binance or even coinbase. Steem is one of the few crypto projects that have a working product! It needs more exposure for the community to grow more !

STEEM is already on Binance, AFAIK...

What's altcoin? Steem is an altcoin?
The fact that by Mid November, NETCOINs will make steems available for sale in more than 170,000 locations (this is huge!) in 53 countries over 6 continents makes us all to be optimistic about the nearest future of steem.

altcoin = alternative coin, or basically any coin that isn't Bitcoin. And yes, obviously, STEEM is an altcoin.

I thought as much.
Thanks.

wow that's great that's shows how crucial that contest was the community stood up to the challenge :)
