I hope the spammer has left you alone since. This is certainly a risk associated with fighting spam. Ever so often, they will retaliate. I suppose I have just been lucky in this aspect.
I reported the incident but got no reply, so I have no idea if the downvotes were deleted or not. Turns out that the account was hacked and the hacker made a lot of harm. It happens often, unfortunately.

Yes, this does happen often. It's unfortunate. I hope you don't have to deal with this again in the future. Spammers sure put a damper on this place.
