Steemit | Why it's acceptable when Steem, Inc bans a user
After the ban on 9/11 blackmailer's steem account, eyebrows have been raised, but it's acceptable for a dApp.

When we say steemit is a decentralized application, it means anyone at anytime can copy and make their own version of it, without needing an intermediary. This is unlike the Play Store, which you must keep installed if you want to legally use what you downloaded.
This is all possible because both the steem blockchain and the steemit website are open source and don't require any third parties involved. That's what it means to be decentralized. It has nothing to do with censorship.
You can still access everything they posted through different blockchain interfaces, as his access was only revoked through steemit itself. I.e. take a look at it through busy. https://busy.org/@thedarkoverlord
