Are You Losing Followers For "No Reason"? (Let me tell you Why!)
Hello boys and girls and whatever else you are! How Are You?
Today, as always i checked my profile and saw that i had 2 new followers. From a little bit of digging i found out that i gain an average of 1 new follower day after day BUT that doesn't mean i don't lose followers too. Basically, what happens is that the majority of new followers i get suddenly they choose to unfollow me after a week max.
But why this Happening?
Is my Content That Bad?
Have i insult them somehow?
Am i ugly?
The correct answer is none of the above but after spending years and years of research i finally able to narrow it down to 2 factors which explain this phenomenon that i bet you can relate! I am gonna break it down below and note that i am providing these information completely free! How Cool Am I?
Beggar Level 10
The typical beggar is the one that makes spam comments and once in your life you might have seen his characteristic move "Follow Me Follow You". Those common beggars that are everywhere managed to evolve and learned how to do some sneaky attacks!
They will follow your account and they aim that you will somehow see it (either through gina bot, or steemworld etc etc) and out of good will you gonna follow them back. As you can understand their goal it to target your heart making you "feel bad & guilty" that you don't follow them too.
After a couple of days or a week if you still haven't followed them back they will unfollow you and try to find other victims!
The Sentimental
This type is a little different than the beggars. They are most of the times "newbies" that just follow you and then expect you to check their profile and interact with them. If you don't then after a week or month (longer period than the beggars) they will unfollow you.
Sometimes they may even think that their posts are failures and that's why you didn't upvote,follow or commented on them! They will consider themselves as unworthy of your caliber and thus unworthy of the platform, give up and leave completely from Steemit!
Bonus: A Special Tip
This is a tip for newbies but it can be useful to anyone! The users that are here longer or have a higher reputation have a lot of followers and that's a fact. I don't gonna state how they earned all those followers cause this isn't exactly the point i wanna make. So those people that have a lot of followers and gain new ones each day can't scroll through the list and manually check anyone who follows them. It take a lot of time and the majority will be bots and beggars. Just imagine if you have 1000-3000-5000 even 10k of followers how hard it is to check each one!
If you wanna earn followers or more specifically if you follow someone and you want him to follow you back the solution is relatively easy. Just go and comment on his posts! Each time he makes a post that you are interested in just go read it and make a great comment. Not only you may earn some upvotes for your comments, he may finally follow you back too and even form a relationship after a while!
You must also have quality posts yourself, at least don't steal content, write down your sources and say no to plagiarism!

Pfff... I always thought that it is too much of a pain to unfollow someone! I can't imagine that people are following no particular reason other than to attract your attention and then remembering to unfollow a week or two later! On the other, perhaps I just don't have the right mindset!

Because i am a little bit of weird when i finally click the button in order to follow a person, i have done my fair research before :P That means i already know if his post are interesting to me and i probably have already write a comment somewhere! Thus, i can't unfollow him after a week, i like that guy/girl :p Even if he/she is absent i may wait for over 6 months of continuous absence and then i may unfollow
I've only had a single purging... I'm back in the phase of adding new people to follow again. Most of the purged accounts were from my first couple of months of arriving on Steem. So, following the usual newbie following regime of following people whose content I didn't care about but they had high payouts or random giveaways... that sort of thing! These days, it's pretty rare for me to follow an account that I don't like the content from!
Another reason is because of Steem UA, many people believe that it will somehow increase their UA score if they are only following a small amount of people (at least for real human accounts on the blockchain XD)

yes there has been times when some people didn't like my content and left in significant numbers, but in most cases it's nothing more than bot activity 😆

I don't think though that people didn't like your content and unfollowed, most probably they anticipated a follow back and some upvotes :P so it's better off without them!
On Twitter you have a limit, so you have to unfollow to follow new people.
But here, unfollowing would just be a waste of bandwidth, isn't it?
for you that you are new and don't have that much sp and thus rc yep it would be a bit of waste :P For me and other like me or a little bit above it's no big deal, it will make close to 0 difference!
Some advises in case you are completely new and this isn't a second or third account :P
A lot of those "followers" are just bots, some of them sign on and off every few weeks, always just after you have posted something (often before a normal person could even read your post).
yes i excluded the bots i talked only about "human beings" but i really didn't know that info you just said, just wow!
There are not many who do this, but I have had names following me where I said: Didn't they just unfollow me a few hours ago? One did this at least 4 times.
Συμφωνώ απόλυτα. Βασικά είναι και μερικοί που σε παρακαλάνε please upvote και τέτοια. Ακόμα και οταν η ψήφος σου δεν έχει αξία.. παντως τελευταία ειναι αρκετά καλύτερα τα πράγματα ακόμα και στα σπαμ comments.
ναι εκει βοηθησε το hf20 κ δν εχουν αρκετα comment να κανουν :P για να το διασκεδασεις αμα σ κανουν σπαμ σχολια τρολλαρε τους
εχω την εντυπωση οτι πρεπει να συμπεριλαβεις αλλη μια κατηγορια....ειναι και αυτοι που προκειμενου να σε αναγκασουν να τους προσεξεις καθε 4-5 μερες σου κανουν follow-unfollow διαδοχικα....εγω προσωπικα εχω μια που μου εχει σπασει τ @@ ....μεχρι τωρα το εχει κανει τουλαχιστον 5-6 φορες....βαρεθηκα να την βλεπω

Συμβουλη 1: Μην δινεις σημασια στους followers κ στα νουμερα τους!
Συμβουλή 2: Αυτοι π οντως τους αρεσει το περιεχομενο σου θα σου κανουν upvote κ comment οποτε θα τους δει εκει! ετσι κ αλλιως ολοι εχουμε πανω κατω περιορισμενο αριθμο ατομων π κανουν σχολια κ δινουν ψηφους, οποτε ο καινουργιος θα φανει αμεσως :p
