steem power down

hello friends

 this might be a stupid question, and may result in my very first post getting down voted, but I am still new here, and I have no idea what the Power Down means next to my Steem balance. 

please explain me about it and i also want to know that

how to save or transfer my steem power into steemit or steem dollars .
