Airbnb I have found in my travels all around the world is by far the best way to travel.
Its the cheapest way to travel, short of crashing on people's couches, I have stayed in places for as little as $20 a night for my own apartment in Warsaw. $10 a night for great hotels in Thailand, $5 a night for beach shacks on the water, castles in Europe for $60 a night and these prices are in AUD!
Price a second time, why? Your not paying for corporate profits of a hotel, the money you pay is going directly to Airbnb and the person who is hosting you their place, which if you think about it is great, your putting profits directly into the pocket of a local person.
You get your own great apartment in the country your travelling, no better way to feel what life is like in the country your staying then to stay in a locals apartment, walk out of your apartment onto cobble stone paths in Europe or step out of your beach shack on Thailand, you can even stay on yachts as hotel rooms in Amsterdam.
On Airbnb you can rent hostels for the best prices, an entire apartment for 1/2 to 1/3rd the cost of a hotel or share an apartment with your host, which is also highly recommended because you have your own local to talk to in the country your visiting.
Staying with a local has some great benefits, I have made some great friends all over the world who were my hosts at my airbnb, they are usually the nicest people (it takes a open minded person to rent out a bedroom in their own home and trust someone they don't know)
The local can sometimes become a great new friend who you explore the town with and they can show you the sights of their country and the best spots to see.
As a world traveller I have stayed in the finest hotels and apartments, the grubbiest, cheapest hostels and shacks on the beach all through airbnb and their is no better way to travel and no better way to save money and travel then with airbnb.
