Translation: How Steemit should be and what it actually looks like - A drama

in #steemit6 years ago

It is sad that we actually have to sit here and discuss this. The news and trending section is full of it. No one does anything. I recognize similarities to Bitcoin. Let's be honest. BitCoin is not loved or uplifted by the BitCoiners because they believe in it, but because they make money from it. None of them are naïve, but everyone is well aware that Bitcoin is outdated, but who cares if the technology does not work if you can satisfy your greed.

Steemit has lost sight of his goal. Or we have lost sight of the goal. Witnesses are flagged by users who have more voting power, through bots and fanboys who have no idea how SteemIt works, what it could mean to the world and to the people.

What should Steemit be?

Steemit should be a place where people come together from different countries and different populations. They should be able to exchange opinions. Artists should be able to present their works and possibly finance their lives or at least a part of it. People from oppressed countries should be able to speak out and be funded by their courage to tell the truth. Steemit should create an incentive.

The goal was to create a social network where those who succeeded in this system would share their success with NewComers, which become new stars in the Steem-heaven, simply because they say, "Hey, I started small, too I support him so he can get discovered by others." It's just like when P!nk (yes, I'm a fan) would go and tweet "Have met an enormously talented person, there look at it and support him www.talented.de "
The person could probably not save himself from gigs and P!nk from thankfulness. That's the principle.
But what happens if you do not use your fame if you sell it, if you exploit it?

In this situation we are in the moment and that is partly because we, the community actually do nothing and the developers as well. Maybe a kind of Hardfork is necessary to change that, if there could be something like that.

The future should look completely different:

At First: Why it is important that Whales keep their SP:

If downvotes would be a part of steemit and not those almost invisible flags, there would be haters. Clearly. Watch some YouTube videos that are really well done, but still voted down.
I strongly assume that the hater are usually the ones who burst with envy because they did not achieve anything on their own.
Therefore, if a whale upvotes and 50 haters who have not achieved anything, downvote, not much will happen. That would be a point to think about.

Regulation of a whale

Whales are important in Steem, but they have to be regulated. Through several things. There is a maximum of voting power that can not be exceeded.

They can make a buy-out but it is either a full or a half-buy-out, and their voting power is kept to a minimum for several days. Whales would think five times if they really want to get rid of their Fame.

If they still withdraw, there is a fixed payout fee to the first voters who voted up the person after the last buy-out. This also supports the faithful followers of the whale and contributes to the redistribution of voting power to those who really vote.

Outside of Steemit bought SP or SG can be paid only from a certain level in Steemit and will be blocked for several months. This prevents that some richer Steemians, buy Voting Power and then go wild. I think that the rocky road to the top can shape one and then votes would be better handled. On the other hand, it contributes to the fact that a Steemian who has reached the level already not just buy SP or SD go wild and distribute it to other friends to give them a better start.

Account-Level

And thats the next topic. Accounts should have level-unlocking that could potentially cost you something, but that's a big eventuality. But what this unlocking basically should do is, that not everyone has the opportunity to do everything immediately. Levels increase with your voting power. Voting power increases with the number of SPs as well as the activity and distribution of votes.

As basic level you have the opportunity to post things and get votes. Deposits and withdrawals are not possible, to send and receive SD and SP is not possible. Your only purpose is to give votes and get votes, then increase your voting power and internalize the meaning of Steemit.

Medium-Level
You've got enough voting power to buy and deposit SD or SP from outside to support yourself more and with the internalized attitude to Steemit, you like to help others to increase their voting power.

High-Level
You can distribute your SP and SD to other Steemians if you want.

Anti-Voting-Fee

If you are not going to vote for a longer time you will get an anti-voting fee which will automatically be distributed to the newest Steemit members.

The conclave

Likewise, there should be a controlling instituition, a kind of conclave, this conclave arises at random. Steemians are randomly selected by the system to participate in the conclave for a period of time. Requirement to participate in the conclave is not the voting power, but the activity and the mindfulness with your own votes. Does someone vote in the conclave he generates more voting power as regular and gets a badge.

In the conclave, other Steemians can submit proposals, complaints, Steemians can be sentenced to a fine, Steemians can be chosen to get a higher level than they are entitled to, and they can get right to deposit SD or SP because they be considered by the conclave as an enrichment for Steemit, for example by voting neutral and constructive. The insight into accounts of others gets only the conclave. If information is carried to the outside, the one is blocked for life and everything on the account gets redistributed. A vote is only brought before the conclave if it was proposed by a certain number of Steemians.

Of course, the conclave has an obligation to vote correctly and not blindly. Votes can therefore be withdrawn from the ensuing conclave again. If the vote does not match those of the current conclave. There is no voting power for a repetitive voting. If the majority of the last Conclave's decisions are challenged, the previous Conclave will receive a "shame badge". The conclave has a conclave-only section in which everyone involved can exchange their views, here also all discussions of the previous conclave can be listed. The protocol I would call it.

I think with these rules, Steemit could really make progress and for example, flag wars and whales that should not be whales. Sure it's just a concept in my head. Maybe you have a better idea, but new ideas never hurt.

I think it's awful how Steemit dies and Whales take advantage of their position or just not use it. That should not be and is absolutely contrary to what we wanted to achieve here.
But the effort for such a thing is of course huge. However, as we also move in a completely wrong direction, this effort may be important and necessary.

Of course, this post will not move much. I'm a little Steemian who dreams of big things, but maybe I'm lucky too. In the end, at least I can say I was trying to change something.

What are your thoughts on the subject? Where do you see weaknesses? What do you think about the Flag Wars, how would you make Steemit better? Take it in the comments!
