By the way, steemit.com is down quite often lately and I use alternative frontends, the most stable web based one for me appears to be moecki's.
Yes it's been terrible but this happens often and eventually gets fixed. But I feel it takes too long and there is not much information. Thank you I already have moecki's front end on my links section of the post, which I hope will help others.
