Nowadays people mostly use bots for visibility even though in many cases they even have a loss. They are hoping to earn followers and build their network that way.
I agree that profit is not always the incentive, but the large payouts can attract followers. I hope they continue to follow for the content provided and the normal rewards between Steemians in the Steemit Gift Economy.
