Idea: Option to specify a reward that is 75% SBD and 25% SP
Hey Steemit,
As of this writing, the price of SBD is $1.95. Still very much over the $1 it is supposed to be. But I'm always thinking, and here is another idea that might help create those Steem Dollars that are so much in demand.
We should add an option to specify a 75% SBD/ 25% SP payout.
Current Options
- Power up 100%
- Default 50%/50%
- Decline Payout
New Options
- Power up 100%
- Default 50%/50%
- 75% SBD / 25% SP <----------- New!
- Decline Payout
Yes, this option will do exactly what you think. Your post payout will be 75% in steem dollars and only 25% in Steem power.
Of course, this is just a suggestion to the system, you might not get 75% /25%. If the price of Steem falls, and the SBD print rate goes down, then you might only get 50/50 anyway, or even no Steem dollars if the price sinks and the print rate goes to 0. This is also true with the Default option. (It already seems like ages ago that this happened.)
This would require a hardfork of course, but worth considering. What do you think Steemit?

I read about it that they want the value to be equal but it's hard for me to understand why, can anybody explain that ?
SBD (Steem Dollars) are supposed to be equal to one US dollar. This is because many people in the world are familiar with the US dollar and it's worth, so it's a nice easy currency to work with. SBD was supposed to be a stable currency you can transact in without all those wild fluctuations that cryptos are prone to.

I believe the reason it shouldnt be done and probably wont is so that at least half goes straight back as an investment. Its a good thing that it takes time to turn Steem Power into steed. I get what you are saying and its worth considering but i lean toward more steem power.
If you like Steem Power, that's great. In the new system, you could still opt for 100% power every time.
I do agree that each individual should be able to decide for him self. At least with your proposal its not 100% SBD so some would be locked into steem power. Good idea none the less
I think 50/50 still a good thing consider it as an investment. But to motivate writer to create more articles 75/25 should be an option. Nice thought. 👍👍👍
