But if it were possible to create value for the larger crypto ecosystem as a whole, would it not make sense extend the reach of Steem development beyond its own boundaries to serve for a smoother, open flow of info & currency between platforms...?

From a previous post of yours talking about cross-chain technology, I believe this is what we should be more concerned about and not a competition of no end. Bridging the gap and unifying the crypto chains will bring development not to one but several blockchains

@rok-sivante, Absolutely true, Blockchain which hold and serving different niches should not be compared with Steem, at first place we have to come out of this competition and have to focus towards collaborative steps and actions so that slowly but gradually this Ecosystem will going to reach towards masses. Stay blessed.

No, you're not delusional. That's the way forward. The entire space would benefit from cross-chain interoperability precisely because it would strengthen the network effect for all projects. The usability of a token is key. Should it be trivial to the point of automatic to spend STEEM to purchase something by having it exchanged for something on a DEX, that would immediately boost its value and subsequently its price.

The winner or loser is a mindset of the contemporary game ideal where there is a winner and a loser rather than cohabitation. It’s also a facet of the crony capitalistic government we all live under where the ones supported by government become massive and that’s who people associate with ‘winning’ things. They are both wrong, these systems need to exist in conjunction with each other for average people to win in the end.

Good point about cooperation usually having better results than competition.

I remember of a project presented at SteemFest 3, aiming to make cooperation possible between all Graphene-based blockchains, in the first phase...

Very interesting thoughts? I think a pretty easy way to start the transition would be to allow payouts in other currencies besides just STEEM. You could still take your cut of Steem Power, but the portion that is paid out in Steem could be paid out in something else. I know you can just convert on exchanges, but as I said this could be a first small step towards the larget inter-operability you are probably suggesting down the road.

I suppose something like that could potentially be possible IF there were an integrated DEX - so the payouts would still actually be in Steem, but then get auto-converted...

However, I don't imagine it'd be a feature that'd be the most conducive to people staying invested in Steem, which is typically what the majority here would wish for its sustained strength.

Nonetheless, could be an interesting idea for a direction of integrating an on-site DEX for those who would be converting on an external exchange anyways...

Wow!
Nice reading from your blog, but I know steem might bypass cardano and some other blockchain due to its fast transaction and the community is also relevant
