New Delhi Steemit Meet -2018 : Key Takeaways

in #steemit6 years ago (edited)

Why i attended the delhi steemit meet ?

As the world is acknowledging the power and utilities of steem blockchain so are the Indians.
Every day since the payout of my first well-upvoted post I have been informing and encouraging at least one person to join steemit for financial independence, to say the least.
BUT the only question they ask after being awestruck that a social networking platform pay's its userbase, is what should I post? How frequently should I post? How can i be original in my content every day for 365 days? Should I invest in steem to be able to generate more $$$?

I didn't know how to answer that effectively since I am an amateur steemitian myself.
On 9th February 2018 @firepower announced the Delhi steemit meet and greet for 11th February and I was waiting very eagerly for this meet to get the answers from the Indian steemit napoleons!
Maybe it was impatience or the over punctual nature that I reached the venue "Café Coffee Day", Connaught Place about 40 minutes before the meet(I'd prefer the former :P).
I met @mehta waiting there for the event, he came from Udaipur only for the stemit meet. That is Dedication sir! RESPECT!
We had a really nice conversation about how we came to know about the platform and what we post about.
We were later joined by @steemflow,@thatindianlady and @wandereronwheels and we discussed why steemit is much better than Facebook (I probably bored them :p) and they told me what their content usually revolves around.
At about 12:40 I witnessed a large group of people canvassing the Café with their unique stories related to steem blockchain.
Then came the people whose usernames I just read on the trending pages @firepower, @aishwarya, @sauranrungta, @shenoy and few other early adopters @komal, @varunpinto, @rovingman, @bunnypunia, @nehab, @thenomadictales who post just awesome contents.
We had group introductions about how's when's and what's of all.
Check out the video of introductions on @bunnypunia's post.
I had some really interesting conversations with @ashishkukreja and Ananya (Yet to join steemit)and he is one hell of an artistic man. He pursues his passion for music and train other students too. Wow!
Then I met @neelamgahlyan and she told me some really interesting things about the Indian steemit community and quite a lot about cryptocurrencies in general. Shoutout to you !!
We then moved on to central park for the video with Youtuber and Steemit India meet host @shenoy and @varunpinto. It was fun :D

@firepower loved your confidence man! You were a great host and thanks for organising the meet.
@nehab I know I am not the only one who can say that steemit, as a platform was meant for artists like you and the creative posts of your's are just amazing. Steemit needs more people like you!
The awesome people i met :

@sauravrungta your input was really crucial in finding the answers I was looking for. Thank you!

Key Takeaways

1 ) If you are new here you should always avoid plagiarising (copy-pasting) data. If the information is important or support's your post just read it all, write the gist and leave a source in there for the reader to check on to read more about it.
2 ) Don't ever write follow for follow or upvote for upvote in the comment section of other people's post. You will probably be flagged as this is frowned upon in this community.
3 ) There is no need whatsoever to invest your money into steem for steem power. You can get to whales or dolphins level by your post's itself. I agree it does give you a kickstart but yeah it's possible. Example @sauravrungta
4 ) For those who are new, the biggest problem is what to write? Simply anything you are passionate about. Example @nehab
Unlike Facebook where the viewership is of your friends or friends of friends, there is a worldwide viewership here and am sure someone would like what you'll post.
5 ) I am a newbie, how can I write original creative content every single day ? If you are out of creative content any day -Write about anything you are interested in, Any place you'd like to visit etc. Just simple things.
There are a lot of platforms on steemit blockchain, use those. Like food bloggers post a picture of food you had at some restaurant or post a recipe of some dish with pictures that you cooked or post a meme on DMania ( Sometimes @DMania upvotes and that my friend has huge value) etc.

6 ) If you still can't figure out how to make your post's interesting and likable, pick up a hobby. I sometimes feel my content ain't good enough so am learning how to play Ukulele and will soon be uploading videos on DTube. I'll have something to post that could be of interest to many. Problem Solved!

7 ) The most important thing that you can do to gain followers and make your reputation soar quickly is using the comment box. Always comment your views on the post of others as everyone likes to read the opinion of his/her post-viewers as they have put it out for the world to see. They might reply and this develops a companionship and once you are more visible on their posts then sooner or later they will check who you are from your posts. Follow or upvote is very likely!
8 ) Many times we complain that someone else who just got in here gets's on the trending page on his/her first post and they haven't yet. See most of them are famous people who have already toiled hard to be recognized by others in the past like @tjkirk, @furiouspete123 or @hodgetwins etc ( They are famous Youtuber's and they have worked hard in the past and thus deserve it!). I accept there are some very lucky people too who get upvoted by whales on their introduction post itself.

I am trying to grow our community from all the sources I can think of and will keep on doing that!
Have a meeting with a Teach for India fellow tomorrow as they operate on CSR they still need finances and donations to provide the children with better facilities. This way they can generate revenue from here by posting the creative work the children do there.
