Reasons I love Steemit! Why Keeping the Community Spirit is so Important.

Ok guys so it has been around 5 months I have been on the platform, and I have to say I am absolutely hooked! I was initially driven here by continuous censorship on Facebook, spending many months sitting in Facebook jail for not towing the line about what you can and cannot speak about. I was fed up with followers being deleted, messages from friends asking why I had deleted them when I hadn't, and posts hardly appearing due to gagging algorithms!!

So firstly its the lack of censorship that I love most, I can talk about whatever I want without worrying if my post will be seen. Ok I might get a downvote for my troubles but I can live with that. Im all about freedom of expression so Steemit fits the bill perfectly and long may that continue. As an activist I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to reach as many people but again that has not been a problem, there are always new people on this platform ready to hear my ramblings!

Secondly of course the reward system is second to none. On Facebook and You Tube I do not get rewarded for putting out content, indeed as I have stated already, all my efforts are suppressed or even taken away. To earn crypto as you go for doing something you love is something I am extremely thankful for.

Thirdly the community projects! Its so beautiful to see that people are not just making crypto for themselves they are putting it back out there to help and support others. I have seen campaigns from getting water supplies set up in African villiages, to planting trees in a Cameroonian jungle. I have vowed to myself to one day start doing the same once my stakes get higher hopefully. I think the true essence of Steemit right now is that of community and it doen't matter where you're from!

The plights that Countries like Venezuela face right now are terrible, how wonderful that many Venezuelans are turning to Steemit as a way out, and its great that I can sit here in Asia and help that person by giving them an upvote or a share so their post gets seen by more people. I know everyone is keen to establish themselves on the platform but you're missing a big trick if you're not helping others out on here. We were all 'minnows' once!

The ease of which you can convert your Steem into other crypto is also another benefit, personally I want to hold as much here to support the platform, but if ever I fancy a dabble it is quite effortless (although it looks confusing at first) to convert into other currencies.

Is it just me but I also find people are more positive on this platform compared to others? Maybe its because we have finally got something here that we can genuinely enjoy and feel free to express ourselves on. I have found most people very supportive, and even if they don't agree there is not much agitation. Also I know many of the 'whales' get stick but again I have found, and indeed know, that many of them are also supporting the minnows.

There are many other benefits but these are just the main ones. I'll leave you with this, think community rather than self and we will all have a much better and successful experience on here as the platform will organically grow from a good space. I believe in energy and if we keep this clean on here then it will blossom into something even greater!

Have a great day!

It's a fascinating anthropological experiment to observe. The platform brings out the best and worst of people I suppose. The fact that it's all transparent should allow an organic evolution. I've no idea where it will go but it's great to be a part of. Perhaps the added complexities and effort required on this platform attract a more committed user.

Yes its not without its issues, and there is a lot of junk posts on here that see to do well, but still the positives far outweighh the negatives so far.

Yes...I'm finding plenty of positives and positive people on here. I'm currently watching your unplugging from the matrix part 1 talk from Swindon. This type of knowledge is new to me. I found Mark Passio's 'What on earth is happening' website about a year ago and this has been a game changer for me. Thank you for your work :)

Falling in love with steemit... 😍😍

Yeah, this is a great platform, looks nothing like the ultra-censored Youtube and Facebook, which are becoming pathetic beyond belief!
