Upvote Shares Project Update

I have been testing out the @upvoteshares concept for 23 days now and here is a little update on where it stands.

For those who are not in the Loop, @upvoteshares is an experiment to provide daily upvotes to shareholders in the program in a fair and scalable way while also providing a way to sponsor minnows and help them grow on Steemit done with the @minnowshares account.

One of the reasons I am testing it out first, is to see if all the numbers add up and at what pace the account can grow by earning curation rewards. The original numbers of an 0.08 STEEM increase to unlock the next level seemed slightly too high. Level 2 would take about 10+ weeks to clear purely based on curation rewards after I added over 50% of the needed SP to progress. This pace even slows down over time so I will bring it down to a 0.06 STEEM increase. Some efforts will be made to grow the account faster.

• Making a couple posts each week (Projects progress update and highlighting some solid content from shareholders)
• Potentially getting busy.org upvotes by increasing followers_mvests
• Adding all the curation rewards from the @minnowsupport account.
• Investing more personal funds in the project on top of the 10% (this will be done to get a more consistent timing in leveling up)

This should make it possible to always at least increase 1 level each month. Since the amount of shares are very limited and they do offer something that has a lot of demand on Steemit, I don't expect the levels will have difficulty to fill up. (I could be wrong on that)

Read Numbers:

Once the @upvoteshares account reaches 548SP (Owned) Level 2 opens up and 50 new Shares become available which brings the total amount of shares at 150. Each share equals a 3.32 STEEM Price (+0.3 STEEM Entry Cost used to buy delegation and sponsor a minnow) that will be Powered up once the level is filled (166 STEEM) which brings the account at 714 STEEM. I will add 10% on top of what came in (16.6 STEEM), this makes the account having to grow 13.2SP in order to reach the next level. This cycle repeats over and over again with the numbers above always increasing the value of shares from existing shareholder while everyone who steps in at a new level gets about the same starting value.

The objective will be to slowly but steadily grow the account to 10000SP in a couple years from now and provide all shareholders with steady daily upvotes.

Current Shares Distribution

Level 0 got completely filled with Shares reserved to convert future Minnow Shares into Upvote Shares (collecting 6 minnow shares will gets you 1 Upvote Share for now). All these shares are incactive and give extra value to shareholders.
Level 1 was used to provide some free non-transferrable shares to friends and good accounts that supported or interacted with my betting related account @costanza, my personal health related account @byebyehamburgers or replied to one of the posts regarding this project. (30 were given permanent, ~20 were given temporary in the course of the test program. (sorry if I forgot or overlooked anyone...). The temporary shares will be used to give away in this years EPL Betting Contest for Jackpot Winners (10) and to give away as a way to promote the project on Steemit (10) more on that soon....

Votes Distribution

I am using steemauto to distribute the upvotes and the main challenge has to be to put the Upvote % for each share at a level where no upvotes go unused. Purely in theory, if everyone used their daily upvote. each share would could be set at 1000% / amount of shares. Since not all accounts are active each day I've started out setting it at 1100% which still often saw the voting power unused at 100%. I rather give bigger upvotes and pauze the program for a day in case the voting power gets below 80% instead of leaving votes unused. Steemauto also went down which will likely happen more over time. Right now it is even set at 1450% to really stress test the limits and I have still a couple weeks before everything goes live to find a balance. (The minimum upvote % will always be 1000%/amount of shares.)
