Your reputation is a vital part of using steemit correctly and making the most of your influence on the site! Your SP is automatically divided from your overall author rewards and locked away in your profiles SP wallet (this CAN be powered down, but the idea is to let it grow and grow so your votes are valuable to the community). Some people invest their own money into buying more SP to up their influence and boost their upvoting strength (but be aware YOU DO NOT HAVE TO INVEST ANYTHING to start making money with crypto and gaining a good rep!) The other 50% of a posts earnings are free to withdraw to your crypto trading platforms to be traded into your current local everyday currency. Posts last for 7 days, and after that the 7th day they do not create any more revenue - just traffic and potential followers.

Depending how much Steem Power you hold, your upvote value will be calculated to reflect the value of your account in SP. The higher your SP the more valuable your upvote is worth! SP growth can be achieved by simply submitting GOOD blogs; writings, photo's, music, film and anything you take serious enough or find valuable. That's when you....

Take it a little more seriously than ordinary social media and you will find many of those whales and dolphins swimming by with some pretty large reps and SP that are waiting to support your content with a nice big valuable upvote - and you want them to notice your posts value.

The more effort and creativity practiced as you get used to blogging, the more professional your posts will be. See if you can make your post POP a little... Stand out from others and get the attention it deserves! It could go badly too! haha

Some people don't submit any blogs at all and manage to do quite well from just curating others content (liking, commenting and sharing posts). You will gain more like minded followers and support from the community by engaging through others posts and steemit chat.
