Wemark: Cost and Future Of Decentralizing Operations

  The cryptocurrency craze saw an exponential boost late 2017 when the hype of blockchain application to whatever problem that exists on the surface of the earth was all over. 

 

There is a popular saying which I hold dear. “It’s dangerous to draw conclusions based on incomplete information.” As the hype kept building momentum, likewise the unheard of type of projects started popping out attempting to do the ‘impossible’. Many are by the way side now and others are still trying to stay afloat. One thing they missed was that a rush into a new technology is definitely was going to cost them dearly. 

The rush was to decentralized operations of businesses. A spade can only be a spade and not a big spoon. There are some business models that today cannot thrive based on decentralized system of governance while some can survive on an intelligent hybrid of both decentralized and centralized system of governance. 

The only project which I have seen that has truly understood what it means to run a business by carefully applying blockchain technology is Wemark Project. Wemark project is about creating a distributed digital marketplace for digital content. Understanding the current limitations in the blockchain technology which are scaling, ability hold large volume of data etc, Wemark has decided to gradually move towards full decentralization as the technology advances. One of such move is that of migrating the already centralized storage of digital contents to distributed storage systems. One which can only be possible as the blockchain technology grows and advances.
