Blue Lobelia

This has to be one of my favourite annuals and although it also comes in a pale blue, mauve and white, I find the deep blue one is very striking.

Many people say that they cannot get lobelia to grow well in their garden and in most cases, it is because of the area that the plant has been put in.

Lobelia loves the sun!!

The hotter, the better - and although it will produce a few flowers if planted in a semi shade area, it will never have masses of blooms.

I have a pot in which I have grown a baobab tree from seed which at present is just starting to push out new leaf buds and every year at the base of the small tree my lobelia pops up.
The strange thing is that I cannot remember ever planting seeds there -but there it is in all its glory!

As the baobab tree needs a good sunny position, the lobelia thrives alongside it giving me a display of note.
So if your lobelia is not doing well, try some in a really sunny part of the garden.
