This is the first movie that we (my Lady and I) watched in the cinema since our boy is born. It has been almost two year since our last movie, The Martian, where Matt Damon mocked Neil Armstong.

Impressive POV

I am well aware of the most parts of historical events leading up to Apollo 11 mission. However, looking through the lens of Neil Armstrong inside the cabins of few different aircraft are simply immersing. While looking at the clustered dashboards with many manual gauges and dials, the rivets around the pieces of steel and wrenches to lock the hatches, I realised the limit of human beings when facing the greatness of God the Creator. Despite more than fifty years after the Apollo 11 mission, we are still here on Earth, not going very far.

Not so Impressive Actings

I am not sure how cold or "stable" Neil Armstrong is in his real life, but based on his son Mark, the portrayal is pretty close. Personally I think that Ryan Gosling may have gone too far. Ryan's portrayal of Neil Armstrong is too cold for my comfort, or possibly it is to blame of Ryan's skills in acting "cool". We can see that Neil is extremely composed during crisis. However, it is quite unusual for him to act the same to his own family members. Or perhaps he did, which may be the reason of his divorce after 38 years of marriage.

Conclusion

I think this could be a momentous movie for us to ponder upon our insignificance, at the same time offers a documentary-like point of view for the generations to come. We have to revise and improve, before pushing humankind forward in the age of exploration.
