BROKEN HEARTED TEENAGER.
When your child comes home from school with a broken heart, you feel like you also have a broken heart.
There is really not much you can do for someone with a broken heart but listen.
Normally they will crawl into their own skin and not say a word. Do not feel bad about it as they have to work through this on their own time and way.
What is important is that they know you are there for them.
Talk to the teacher and explain what has happened. Believe me he or she has gone through the same thing but might have forgotten.
Your child will be very quiet in the beginning, but will definitely not feel like eating or enjoying anything. The teacher should know just so that they do understand the personality change at school. If you tell them they will understand, and leave the child to work through the problem in time.
When your child gets home try to make the things they love to eat, but if they do not feel like it do not complain or tell them not to worry it will get better soon.
Just ignore it and carry on like normal until they decide to talk about it then just listen and do not interrupt.
They might ask you a question and you can then maybe tell them that all humans go through this incredible heartache.
There are very few people who marry their first love.
But that might show them how much more there is to life and that it is not the end of the world, although it feels like it for sure. Some children get better quicker than others, but then some will really have a hard time.
As you will find out when it happens to your child. But please keep your eyes open and see when your child starts feeling a bit better. Now you can start treating them by taking them out to the movies or making their favourite food. Slowly but surely your child will become the child you knew and realise that there are other people in the world that love them.
By getting them to go out in groups they might even meet somebody else and then they realise nothing lasts forever. They might just meet someone new who they also like.
But the heartache of a first love is something no one ever forgets. I hope you got some information from this post and that it will really help.
