FEBRUARY THE 30TH

Something I did not know at all but found very interesting is the fact that we did have a February the 30th

It did happen in the 1712 Sweden had a 30th of February as there was a mistake in their calendar. We know that every four years we have a leap year as it is necessary to keep the calendar in working order with the amount of days per year.

But in 1712 Sweden did it and in 1930 and 1931 they did this to make a 5 day week so that people did not have to stop working in certain factories and things with a brake in-between.

The Soviet Revolutionary Calendar
February 30 existed from 1930–1931 after the Soviet Union introduced a revolutionary calendar in 1929. This calendar featured five-day weeks, 30-day months for every working month, and the remaining five or six days were “monthless” holidays. The abolition of the seven-day week in favor of a five-day week was intended to improve industrial efficiency by avoiding the regular interruption of a non-working day.

We use the Gregorian calendar and it works out perfectly but they were using the Julian calender.

But in 1940 they changed the calendar back to the Gregorian calendar and since then the whole world has been on the same system. I just thought it weird as we know that we have leap year every four years and then February make the system viable. I just found it fascinating when I found out that there were Februaries who had 30 days and thought there might me some other people who did not know it either.

The 13th century scholar Johannes de Sacrobosco claimed that February had 30 days in leap years between 45 BCE and 8 BCE in the Julian calendar, when February was shortened to give the month of August the same length as the month of July. However, historical evidence relating to the Julian calendar refutes Sacrobosco, who was critical of that particular calendar.

In our calander February have 28 days untill leap year where we have 29 days.

It is funny to think how they all tried to change something to suit them and in the end all went back to the old way of leap year.

I hope you found this interesting and have a wonderful day from me.

I agree with your post,
I also feel confused as to where every year in a month, the number of days in the month is different

Very good post
Thank you

Your history is absolutely right. This is good information. February has been understood in a very beautiful way.

some things need to be changed depending on what societies need :)
