MAKE A BOOK ON GRANDPARENTS STORIES FOR ALL.
With grandparents visiting, we know we would have a lot of fun.
Children always hear stories from their grandfather about things that happened not so long ago, as life had moved very fast in the last century.
Grandparents stories are always very interesting, as they lived in a totally different time
I think we must buy a book and start writing everything down, maybe when we are grownup we can also tell our children these stories.
It is such a good idea, as I am also starting to forget some of them, it is something that happen with old age.
This book can go on forever as the family grow and the eldest child must always get the book.
I think buy two so that grandmothers can give us some of their fantastic recipes that we do not have, and do not know how to make.
They wrote with these fountain pens as there were no ballpoint pens in those day.
Grandparents did not have tractors like today; they used oxen to pull a plough and walked behind it.
Life was a lot slower in those days. It took a long time to plough, but they all worked together, and it was the children’s jobs to plant the vegetables for use in the house.
They grew all their own vegetables and remember they had to milk cows and made butter.
The oxen walked slowly and it took them days to finish a land.
They even made their own coffee as their mother use to roast the beans in the Cole stove as they did not have electricity on the farm.
They then took turns to grind the coffee beans. It was standing on the stove the whole day so when their father use to come inside have some coffee and then leave to go on with his work.
The ground coffee was put into a bag, made of material and the water was then just boiling away all the time.
The children had to find wood, and make a fire for their mother every day that she just filled on as the fire started dying.
They also had coal standing next to the stove for their mother, and a big bucket of wood next to the stove for her.
They use to go to a little school on horseback, but when they got home all the work started for them as they had to see that there was enough wood, water the vegetables from a well that was not too far from the house, and do everything their mother asked from them.
The things that they could not make, they got from a man who came round with his horse carriage, he had everything on there from cups and saucers and anything they needed.
They did not always have money and then swapped out food and vegetables for what they needed, that is actually how money started to exist.
Later they started printing money, but in the beginning people would just get what they need by giving someone else something they needed.
So if you still have old grandparents ask them to write down some of the stories and recipes, as this will be wonderful for you to teach your children later on.
We must never forget where we come from and remember all the wonderful things they can tell you.
Have a wonderful day from me and hope you enjoyed my post.
Grandma we love most And the children are involved in every happiness.
That is so true my best friend.
