RE: DAD-Chronicals : Children and pets

Really great post! I would also note that if the decision is to get either a dog or a cat...adoption is the better way to go. There are millions of animals waiting in shelters to be either adopted or killed. You'll find both fully matured animals as well as puppies and kittens. A much better way to go than to use a pet store or a breeder (unless you are a breeder yourself)...if you're looking for a family pet, then a shelter is the much better way to go.

you re right its good to choose a animal out of a shelter... But you need a lot of time to invest with em... most parents dont invest this time ;) but damn yeah normally we need to do it

Pets are a big investment, mainly with time and patience. And having been through the process more than once, I can tell you that even though your child will promise to the moon and back that they will shoulder the responsibilities, you do have to be prepared for the possible reality that you are about to become the full time caregiver to another resident in your home.

i know about time and investment... i have reptiles over 25 years now :D but my kids are completly involved into all actions like feeding clean up and so on...

That's awesome! Then you are definitely winning your parenting in that area, for sure! Great job!

I was going to ask about your personal experience with pets but found it here (ish :)) Wow reptiles must something else in terms of care.

I think that other pets here still need approval if I'm not mistaken, but depends on where you are .

I had also a long time Dogs and Cats... but both arent any alternatives for me anymore ;)

I love to cuddle with the rats we have here... And see my nice Raptiles... Your completly right when you say its everywhere diffrent, thats why i choosed the most used Pets dogs cats and ginueapigs :D
