How Do You Handle Students With Disabilities?

I admit, I am not familiar with handling kids with disabilities. I don't have any experience so what I did is to research about the topic. It is already difficult to handle students, mind as well much more difficult if they have special needs. I knew a few people who have disabilities and they really need extra care.

For everyone, teachers and parents, who have students with disabilities. I hope my tips can help you and the kids grow and learn together.

1. Create fun and creative activities

What I understand about a person with special needs, a dull and normal classroom set-up won't make them listen. Well actually if you ask any students they will tell you that a fun activity that stirs their creativity is likeable than a plain discussion. If you're the teacher, spice up your lecture with different techniques like using different sensors such as touch, sound, smell, seeing and hearing to get them excited.

2. Maintain an organize classroom

To limit distraction, you must have an organize and neat classroom. This will help your students to stay focus on the lesson and even participate.

3. Make them feel secure

If they lack on something, don't put their flaws on the spotlight rather, celebrate it with them. If there parents are able to attend your classes, make the adults participate together with their children. With this, they will not only feel secure but also will make the bond between parents and children stronger.

4. Aim for their success at the end of the lecture

At the end of the day, their success is the most important thing. Always look out for their milestones and when they achieve something recognize it eveb though it is simply finishing a drawing, singing a chorus or dancing in a beat. Whatever it is, they will surely appreciate your recognition and boost their self-esteem.
