This short article will discuss about how we can promote resilience in kids to deal with stress.

Unavoidable stress

We cannot pretend that there is no stress or avoid stress but we can help children to acknowledge their stress.

We can help children to develop positive mindset of the benefit of stress in helping them to complete their tasks on time.

We acknowledge that they may feel the tension but they should not develop into worries that do not help in anyway.

As adults, we should allow children to share their areas of stress.

Through sharing their stress, they may feel that their tension of stress can be reduced.

We should never tell them to ignore stress since it is unavoidable.

Provide them with positive support

During stressful periods like examinations, children feel good when their parents are supportive.

We should never use threats to push them to study harder.

We should encourage them that they just need to do their best regardless of the end results.

We can provide positive support to their emotional management during their stressful periods.

Healthy activities

Healthy activities like sports can help to relieve stress.

We should allow our children to exercise regularly to have a healthy lifestyle.

A walk in the park can also help to slow down the heart as well as adjust their emotions.

We can also provide healthy meals to ensure they have a healthy diet.

Seek professional help

When we are aware that our children are not able to manage their stress effectively, we should allow them to get help from a psychologist, social worker or school counsellor.

We should never think that getting help is something shameful but it is necessary for their mental health.

The fact that many adults do seek for professional help on their own to manage their own mental health.

In conclusion

We must cultivate the resilience for stress in kids from young since they will face greater stress as adults in future.

When kids know how to manage their stress effectively, they can be productive as well as emotionally stable even during stressful times.

Parents and teachers have many opportunities to share their experience to their children so that they can understand that everyone faces stress but it is how one deals with it that makes the difference.
