Understanding a bully

Most of us had ever faced a bully before when we were young.

In this modern age, there can be many types of bully including online cyberbully.

We all hated the experience of being bullied but have we ever stopped to think about why a bully wants to bully others?

Broken families

Many children who became a bully due to the lack of a proper family.

They may lack an identity and hope to gain noticed or t be feared upon through bullying others.

They do get plenty of attention by doing the negative actions where they may lack these attention from home as well as a good adult role model.

There is an inner emptiness that needs to be filled up but yet they do not know where to seek or how to get the help.

Within the inner heart, there is loneliness and helplessness.

Once the surrounding people or peers understand this rather than looking at the surface, there can be effective intervention to help these lost sheep that use violence to hide their insecurity.

A victim of being bullied

It is a fact that many kids or teenagers become bullies when they were once being bullied by others.

They begin to vent their past angers on other weaker parties and they may even join gangs.

Through joining gangs, they started to hit hard on everyone around them since they feel that they have the back up and they are somebody with great power.

This is also a sign of the lack of identity.

Some of these kids or teenagers may eventually end up in jail in their adulthood if no help is given.

As educator or adult, we should look beyond the surface and find the root cause of unacceptable behaviours.

Help them when we can and this can be their turning point in their future.

You can be amazed that these kids or teenagers who managed to change will become great counsellors or advisers to other kids or teenagers in their adulthood as they been through the same situation.

Never give up on any child and there is always a hope if we choose to help.

These kids need psychological help to get out of their defensive behaviour through bullying.

Identity crisis

Kids especially teenagers may go through a period where they are seeking to find out who they are and what they are.

Being lost with psychological needs, some may turn to the wrong role models resulting in bad behaviours.

Once they are accustomed to such behaviours, it would so hard to change.

Good behaviours take a long time to cultivate but bad behaviours can be learnt within minutes.

Constantly talk to these kids or teenagers would help to lead them to the right path.

Provide the attention needed and lead them through good questioning or counselling.

As educators, you can be the turning point for the pupils under you.

You can make a difference and they will thank you in many years to come.

You can be surprised and amazed. Some of these bullies have become great whales and dolphin in Steemit. They have great stories of their past that they have yet to share. They have become the greatest help to many minnows and steemit members.

As educators, we always need to be aware of the behaviours of the students we teach. We can make a big difference in the development of kids who treat each other respectfully. When we see bullying behaviour we must make sure that the victim is heard and put steps in place to ensure that the victim feels safe and that further bullying doesn't happen. We must also take the time to understand where the bullying behaviour. There are so many factors in the lives of children that we are not always aware of and sometimes bully behaviour is a cry for attention and help.

Great post. I work in education and I know how important it is to properly identify and address bullying these days. Many people are so ill-informed about bullying. They think that any singular mean behavior or isolated act of aggression is bullying when actually it is not. The students who stole my lunch every day when I was in high school... That was bullying because it was repeated every day. :) Thankfully our staff has to have training at the beginning of every school year now to properly identify bullying. Thanks for sharing this!

Identifying the cause of bullying to deal with it according is really important to address the root of the problem. Thank you for your response!

I loved your post, well structured. Many children are transformed into these monsters by the past of their home, so it is important to guide and educate our children as best as possible.

Great post with some nice points for reflecting on. I teach at a high school, and it is interesting what I see happening with all the dynamics of different student groups. I try to empower my students to be part of the solution when and if they can. Again, great thoughts to consider!

Hello @fun2learn, it's a pleasure to greet you, nowadays you're seeing a lot of violence so much so that you've crossed the physical borders and you see it through the internet (cyberacoso), it's in us as parents and educators to be attentive to these situations of intimidation, take the measures that are necessary for the affected person and also with respect to the intimidator since they usually tend to present problems such as homelessness, lack of parents, lack of guides, immaturity (among many others). It is important that we give them all the possible help and be attentive to identify these cases. Thanks for sharing!!
