For no one is it a secret that education is changing, and now institutions are betting on an education with emotions, feelings management and learning through experiences. That is why today I want to share with you how yoga in classes and as an extracurricular activity is being used by parents and teachers for the benefit of children.

Yoga has been done by many people for their own benefit, but it has been seen how this activity can also benefit children to foster empathy, confidence and concentration, among many other benefits. Yoga has as its main objective to provide unity with the body, the mind and the environment.

Benefits of yoga in children.

In addition to benefiting physically, assisting in body balance and knowledge of the proper postures for the body, this discipline has positive consequences for attitude change, as it helps to improve attention, reduce stress, improve the imagination and Creativity, decreases aggression and improves self-esteem. It also influences personality, since a restless child can learn to relax, while more silent or shy children tend to lose their fear of others and everything around them.

These are teaching activities that work inside and outside of classes. Make it a routine with your childrens, that serves the future personally and professionally.

How to incorporate yoga into the classes:

Each class will have to be planned thinking about the temperament of each child. A study of each student should be done to work based on:

  • The level of activity of the child.

  • The ability to react to new experiences.

  • Force or stimulus needed to get your attention.

  • Ability to express their emotions, or state of mind.

  • Ease with which your attention is diverted from one activity to another.

  • Time of uninterrupted attention to a simple activity or to a posture.

First you must start with relaxation exercises, such as concentration postures, comfortable and relaxing, to calm the minds of children. You must perform activities that call your attention and interest. You must also adapt the environment to the music according to the moment. Once completed the relaxation exercises you can continue with activities in which you must develop your creativity as paint, draw or create, which are excellent to keep them focused and calm.

Once the concentration is achieved, the different yoga postures are incorporated, they should be treated as fun and easy, as animal figures or leave a moment for each child to adopt a new position with their body. To finish you must reduce the difficulty of the figures by the simplest ones or those that you like, to be able to tell relaxing educational stories to the children, since they will be more receptive to any activity.

Experts promote the practice of yoga from 3 and 4 years. However, there is no specific age to enter this activity, it all depends on each child, there is no problem if you want them to practice this activity before or after the age. They only have to adapt the classes according to the ages.
