At first memorizing the multiplication tables may seem like an arduous task; But with patience and a good method, you will see how your kids can learn the tables without problems. In fact, I present to you different techniques and games that will help make this not something boring but a challenge ...
The first thing we have to do to make this an easy and fun process is to provide our children with the tables in a fun, colorful and eye-catching format, I recommend making them together with them on cardboards and coloring them with their favorite colors and put the drawings of the characters that they like, once we have our multiplication tables lists, we can start studying following these steps:
1- Read multiplication tables
Read the tables several times out loud. Do not rush, read carefully and slowly, stopping a few seconds in each operation. The different colors will also help you learn the multiplication tables using visual memory, that is, remembering the image you have seen and it has been printed in your memory.
It is not necessary that you learn them all together, in fact at school you usually go little by little. Start with the table of 1 and 2. Then you can add the others.
2- Repeat multiplication tables
After having read the tables you want to learn several times out loud, try to repeat them in order. That is, if you have read the table of 2, you start repeating: 2 × 1 = 2; 2 × 2 = 4; 2 × 3 = 6, etc.
3- Practice the tables in order
To check how you are doing, start by doing the exercises we have prepared where you have to fill in the results of the multiplication tables in order. You will see below that we have prepared a sheet for each table, with an exercise to practice the tables in order and another to practice them sauteed.
4- Practice sauteed tables
Do you already know the table in order? Well now the test is a bit more difficult! In the school they will also ask you to taste them sauteed, that is, without following the order 1, 2, 3, 4, etc. This is something more complicated, you will have to know them well to be able to respond.
5- Make multiplications to review what has been learned
If you got here you have passed all the tests. It is time to practice multiplication tables doing operations. (It is advisable to practice solving easy multiplications suitable for children of second and third grade)
Once you are sure you have learned, for example, tables 1 and 2, you can continue with the next two tables. Remember that as the numbers get bigger, it becomes harder to memorize the multiplication tables, so it is important that you know the first ones well before moving on to the next ones.
6.- I also recommend you to learn children's songs on the Multiply tables, you will see how easy and fun it can be to learn the tables. (Here I send you a link of some songs that you may like)
