This is indeed a very interesting experiment, not only it helps children understands chemistry through visualisation, it helps makes the experience fun.

And to make things even more interesting... this is what I found in Quora for the soap molecule, which you have mentioned , where you have the Hydrophilic head, plus the Hydrophobic tail. I wonder what @littledrummerboy's first reaction when he sees this?
