Steemit School Poetry 100 Day Challenge #83--Caverns

Don’t stay in them dark rooms too long;
lest you hurt yourself.
Dwelling among expired things
where all has gone defunct.
Nothing is left in there,
dank,
desperate,
just gloom.

In there,
you forget the person whom you once loved.
The one whom you abandoned in the caverns of regret.

Don’t stay in them dark rooms too long.
They be drab,
they be dreary,
they be unforgiving spaces.

Where are the colors you so dearly loved Nathaniel?
The pastels?
The pastiche?
The collages you once pieced together.
Where is the magic son?
When did you abandon the light?

Remember Nathaniel,
Stay not in them dark rooms too long,
they will consume your soul.

A little about me and poetry

This poem is my submission to the School Poetry 100 Day Challenge hosted by @d-pend, whom I would like to thank for sponsoring this competition. He is indeed a godsend. Though a bit dubious, I would consider myself an intermediate writer of poetry. My first love is prose, so if you get a feel of something other than verse in my poetry that is why. I use poems to assist me when I have writer’s block. This strategy, however, seems to be morphing into something more serious. At least I think so.

Thanks for reading.

The dark rooms consume part of us. We must try to leave, to heal our soul.

The dark room corrupts our mind soul and heart makes us evil. Then the colours of life that beautifies our life will fade away

We have to be aware and reign it in when this happens.

I like the tone you use in this. Good one man. Mek we stay out the dark room

Yeah, but I guess sometimes we need it to appreciate the light.
