Steem Kitchen Recipe Contest 4: Week 1, Starters - Cucumber & Tuna Domes

There's a new cooking contest here on steemit, called Steem Kitchen Recipe Contest where you not only stand the chance of winning 100 SP for a week, but you also get to meet great people who give away their secret recipes here and you get to learn new tricks in the Steem Kitchen Master Baking Class.

As I come from a family of keen fishermen, seafood is my absolute favourite, especially in a starter, so I will share with you my recipe for Cucumber & Tuna Domes; a light, fresh and tangy starter, perfect to whet the appetite for the main course.

Ingredients required for four servings, prep time 30 minutes, setting time 30 minutes:

  • 2 teaspoons Gelatine
  • 1/4 cup hot water
  • 1 can Tuna in oil
  • 2 Spring Onions, finely chopped
  • Lemon rind to taste
  • 1/4 cup Lemon Juice
  • 1 teaspoon Horseradish
  • 1/4 cup Tartar Sauce
  • Cucumber
  • Radishes

  1. Soften gelatine in water

  2. Place tuna with oil into mixing bowl, add spring onions & lemon rind

  3. Add Gelatine, Lemon Juice, Horseradish & Tartar Sauce.

  4. Beat together with electric beater to mix well, spoon into sprayed molds to make individual Tuna Mousse. Place in refrigerator to set - about 30 minutes.

  5. To prepare the base for your Tuna mousse, cut thin strips into side of Cucumber to reveal the white part, or score with a fork and slice fairly thick slices.

  6. Prepare radishes for garnishing - make roses or pin wheels as below.

  7. Assemble your starter - Cucumber slices as the base, Tuna Mousse lays on top, garnished with Radish.

Oh this looks really interesting! I have never would have thought that we can "solidify" the tuna spread in this way!
