First steps of investing - the power of NO

Hi,

I will continue with my ideas for the investment starter. I'm not a professional and my articles shall be taken as they are, they are not investment advise as it can go wrong for you from different aspects that I'm not aware.

Saturday I wrote that I will come back this week with a post on the power of NO.

Yes (oh the irony), the word NO is one of the best word we can use on a daily basis. It hurts only the ego, but it helps you massively in the end.

How? That is the question. Well, start saying NO to the stuff that you don't want to do, because you will not do it right.

Also say NO to the stuff that is harming you and that does not help your interest. If you really don't want to go out, and your friends push you just say NO and do stuff you want to do.

Also at work people will try to ask for things that helps them not you. You are paid to do your stuff and your targets. Even if you will feel bad the first time, don't.

If you use NO more often than yes, you will see that people will respect your time. By saying yes to everything you don't respect yourself and your time and you show everyone that you are available anytime. Make yourself scarce as a commodity that is very expensive. If you say yes it shall have a reason and a benefit, even if it is on the long run.

NO does not hurt. Rejection does not hurt, it is only a state of mind. At work, I try to delegate as much as I can and know already the people who say NO more often. With them I try to select the task to be a mutual benefit because if they say yes I know they will deliver compared to the yes saying persons that are overloaded in work.

With NO you will have a lot more time available to focus on your targets. NO brings you also more time for your family.

You need to see when to you use NO, because if you did not do it from beginning it might hurt the relationships, even if they are based on one direction. Try to introduce it step by step.

But again you need to say YES for most of the task if you are working under someone just like a Private Company.

It depends, if you work in sales and you have a customer in front of you yes, if a colleague asks you to fill his paperwork it is definitely a NO if he does not do it for yourself.

That's correct, but a simple NO can adversely affect your relationship with your colleague, might be there will be a better way to say NO rather than saying simply saying NO?
