Calculating Steem Monsters Daily Quests Expected Value
Hey guys! Yesterday I published this article with the expected values of completing your daily quests, as promised I'll explain my calculations today!
In case you're too lazy to click on the link, here are the expected values as of yesterday!
Table of Contents
- Assumptions
- Calculating drop rates
- Calculating average cost per rarity
- Weighting each rarity
- Calculating expected value
- Shameless ad about selling alpha and beta packs
Future articles
- Median value of reward cards
- ROI in buying cards and playing
- Confidence intervals of reward cards (maybe)
- Expected value of reward cards updates (every few days)
Assumptions
- You can sell your card at lowest price per BCX
- Might consider highest bid when more people use bids
Calculating drop rates
- This was easy, basically just asked @yabapmatt for the drop rates
Calculating average cost per rarity
- Added together the total cost of each rarity then divided it by the amount of cards in each rarity
Weighting each rarity
- I multiplied the average cost of each rarity by its drop rate, thus creating weighted values based on rarity and price
Calculating expected value
- Simply added together all the weightings
All I ever get is vampires. Worthless bloodsuckers!
