SteemMonsters and Centralized Games

When I first was reading about the SteemMonsters kickstarter https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/526764488/steem-monsters-a-digital-role-playing-trading-card , what really stood out to me was this point:

"We played Magic and Pokemon and all those card games too. We didn't like when the games went digital we no longer owned cards, nor could we trade them. Blizzard and Wizard owned our stuff. NOT US!

Frankly, all the money we spent was simply gone when we stopped playing.

We also got frustrated by how much luck was involved. It seemed like winning was simply a race to see who got that one special card in the deck first. We wanted something different!"

It's a great point that it's hard to get those special cards and that once the games went digital, we couldn't own the cards.

What's great about SteemMonsters is that you "Own" the card.

What's great too, is that even if you have the same card as someone else, each card is unique because it's on the blockchain. This is because each ID is different. Whereas in real life, you can't really tell what's different in duplicate cards asides from bends and scratches.

Those are the standouts so far and I'm glad I have a few cards. How about you? What do you find most intriguing about this game that is on a blockchain?
