Cards with more XP have a higher chance to win against other cards but also need more mana.
I've seen nothing to suggest you'll need more mana to play a leveled up monster. As far as I'm aware the mana cost will stay the same.

Checked a common lvl1 and 10, yes seems so, no difference. That was misleading. Thank you for correction, i'll change that. Basically legendaries need much more mana than common on average. But there are exceptions like the Rexxie or the Selenia Sky too.
