It works by having early investors get a share of the investments of newer investors. That is exactly what happens here: Older investors get a share of the investments of newer investors who are forced to invest in auctions before being able to create them.
No, your "service" would not work in one direction, but that's like saying a Ponzi wouldn't work if there are no new investors: True, but it stays a ponzi...
