You're on the right path. Those are necessary assessments and it seems you are determined and motivated enough. Keep that desire burning!
There are different new year in our lives. It's when we start something new or when we decided to pick up the pieces and begin again, etc. New life, new year.
Just a fact I feel like sharing. During Jesus' time Julian Calendar was used which is where the present-day Gregorian Calendar was patterned from.
