FIRE PREVENTION MONTH CELEBRATION

The Borongan City Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)’s celebrated the Fire Prevention Month with a theme: “Ligtas na Pilipinas ang ating hangad. Pag-iingat sa sunog ay sa sarili ipatupad.” The theme reflects the ultimate goal of the BFP which is to enable each and every member of the community to become fire-safety conscious individuals, especially in their respective homes.

Our office participated the said event in support for the advocacy rally for a fire-free and fire-safe city and to reinforce the awareness on safety and preventive measures to lessen fire occurrence. Said activity started at exactly 5:00 o’clock in the morning March 5, 2018. The first activity is Zumba.

All of the participants enjoyed this extremely fun workout by moving the body to the rhythm of the music. Dancing releases higher amounts of endorphins into our body that make us feel good and dancing is a great way to create awareness such activity like this.

It was followed by a walk for life around the city proper of Borongan. An awareness to encourage the public to strictly observe safety measures to prevent fire incidents in their households.

Here are some fire prevention tips from the fire department:
• Unplug appliances when leaving the home for an out-of-town trip or vacation
• Refrain from overloading your electrical system
• Never leave a lighted candle unattended.
• Never leave cooking food unattended

Next activity was a short program and flying of balloons.
