Colombia to be NATO's first Latin American global partner

Colombia will join as a "global partner", Santos said, which means it will not necessarily have to take part in military action, and will be fully accredited in Brussels.
The 29-nation NATO alliance reached a partnership agreement with Colombia back in May 2017, just after peace was signed with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, an agreement that earned Santos a Nobel Peace Prize.
“Colombia benefits a lot from being an active part of the international community, many of the problems we face are increasingly global and need the support and collaboration of other countries for their solution," Santos said in a televised address.
Other global partners include Afghanistan, Australia, Iraq, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Mongolia, New Zealand and Pakistan.
The partnership with Colombia will cooperate on global security areas like cyber and maritime security, terrorism and links to organized crime, according to NATO’s website.
The announcement came just hours after the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) approved Colombia as a new member.
"Being part of the OECD and NATO improves the image of Colombia and allows us to have much more play on the international stage," Santos said.

Colombia's military emerges as a global player in US-led alliance

Colombia's military is rapidly becoming a major cog in the United States wheel of global security strategy as the South Americans become more and more aligned with their US counterparts.
The city of Cartagena will this week host a 12-day naval exercise off the country's Caribbean coast involving the navies of eight Latin American countries, plus the US, Canada and the United Kingdom.
This year's version of the long-running naval war games is notable because it showcases the emergence of Colombia as a significant component of the United States' global security strategy.
It's well-known the US has for twenty years supplied Colombia's security forces with equipment, training and intelligence. The aid has cost the US than $7 billion, according to WOLA (Washington Office on Latin America), a Washington, D.C. human rights organization.
What is not well-known is that Colombia is no longer merely a recipient of US help. The relationship has evolved to the point that Colombian soldiers directly embed in the US command structure, helping construct a multinational military force, and serve as proxy for US troops worldwide.
Colombia is now a "net exporter of security," US Navy Adm. Kurt W. Tidd told a Congressional hearing earlier this year. Tidd heads the Pentagon's Southern Command (SouthCom), which from its base in Florida oversees all US military operations in Central and South America and the Caribbean.

Coming-of-age for Colombian military
Colombia has become an active component of US global security strategy. According to Southern Command, it has served as proxy for US forces in more than 60 countries globally, where Colombian soldiers train local militaries at less cost and less political exposure than would exist with the direct use of US forces.
This coming-of-age by the Colombian military raises an obvious question. If they're so good, why can’t they restore security in the country's rural regions and stop the mass assassinations of community leaders?

US Navy Adm. Kurt W. Tidd of the Pentagon's Southern Command (SouthCom), prepared a "TOP SECET" paper that appeared on the Voltaire Network website on 23 February 2018 describing how Venezuela will be destabilized and its "dictator Nicolás Maduro will be removed". Just as in Libya, Iraq, Syria and an entire list of countries, Venezuela is next up on the list to be destroyed. Note how the UK and US media working with the US military, describe President Maduro a "strongman", "tyrant", "dictator" and a "thug". In one news article, the incredible lies and deception against Venezuela has no limits describing in one news article President Maduro "eating steak while Venezuelans starve." This doesn't happen with the political and financial elite in Washington DC and on Wall Street while Americans in California who are homeless are literally defecating in the streets?
In this clip on the continued events concerning Venezuela, it appears an invasion force is arriving in the region preparing to issue an ultimatum to Venezuela backed up with the force of US military power (NATO). It looks as though US Navy Adm. Kurt W. Tidd's "Masterstroke" plan for Venezuela is about to take place using Colombia's US-paid for proxy military to lead the military assault on Venezuela.
How is it possible as the above article suggests that Colombia's military can "emerge as a global player in the US-led global alliance"? Simple: drugs. In triangular trade of drugs, sex and guns, one can buy a lot of weapons with drug money. Colombia is a US proxy narco state. How can this be denied with record levels of cocaine being produced in Colombia with billions of dollars annually on the global drug markets? Is this what the US Marine Corp has devolved into? Forging alliances by bringing a Colombian military officer on staff into the US Southern Command with a narco state with known criminals inside the Colombian military? If the circumstances weren't so serious, US Navy Adm. Kurt W. Tidd statement to the US Congress that Colombia is "net exporter of security, this would be comical. Colombia isn't a "net exporter of security", it is a "net exporter of cocaine in record amounts."
Intelligence operative, we're sorry, we mean "LDS missionary", was arrested in Venezuela with false accusations in the US media he wasn't given hospital care. It was U.S. Senator Bob Corker discussed in the Reuters article below, who went to Venezuela to secure the release of the "LDS missionary" who was arrested and held in a prison for a year and a half. U.S. Senator Bob Corker is not seeking reelection in the coming 2018 mid term elections as discussed in the clip above in the US and will instead go to work for big oil and energy interests. This explains why Corker is the point man for big oil on Venezuela making another trip to Venezuela.
Former Missionary Jailed in Venezuela Barred from Hospital, Family Says
In this Reuters article released last week, Bob Corker who will be going to Venezuela to meet with Venezuela's President Nicolas Maduro, isn't going to "access the current situation", Corker is going to Venezuela to give President Maduro an ultimatum considering all the firepower now either in the region or on the way. In this same Reuters article, note the Boston Group is mentioned. The Boston Group are heavily invested in big oil and gas investments.

Senior U.S. lawmaker on foreign relations to visit Venezuela

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The chairman of the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee will travel to Venezuela "to assess the current situation," a spokeswoman said, amid tensions between Caracas and Washington.
The spokeswoman for Senator Bob Corker, a Republican, said the lawmaker would make the trip in the coming days but could not provide the specific dates in her response to a query from Reuters after sources in Venezuela said Corker would be making the trip.
Corker will meet with U.S. officials, Venezuelan officials, representatives from the opposition and members of the National Assembly and civil society groups, the spokeswoman said.
He will also meet with members of the Boston Group, a network of U.S. and Venezuelan legislators that had maintained relations between the Caracas's government and opposition since 2000.
Corker last visited Venezuela in May to secure the release of jailed U.S. citizen Joshua Holt.

Americans should not forget the fact that Venezuela played a crucial role in America's war effort throughout WWII providing the American military and industry to prosecute war with its oil needs. At the outset of World War II in 1939, Venezuela was "the world's leading oil exporter." Economic assistance from the United States, as well a booming oil industry, led Venezuela to become one of the few Latin American countries that was able to finance its own modernization in the post-war years.
