Don’t Live Everyday Like It’s Your Last, Live Like This Instead

in #steempress6 years ago

Because "live everyday like it's your last" is a boring, tired cliche. We hear about this shit so much that it has lost its meaning; its power.

Here are some alternatives instead.

Live like you’re going to be diagnosed with cancer by age 35.

How would you change your life today then? What would be the first thing you’d do? What’s going to happen when you break the news to your family?

35 is young as fuck you know. It's like a potential death sentence that restarts your life.

Live like your mom is going to die during your 20s

How do you think you’d feel when it happens? How would your perspective on life change when death happens at such close proximity to you? How would you cope with the idea that someone you grew up with was taken away just like that?

Heck, if they knew that they were going to die, perhaps they'd advise you this too, don't live everyday like it's your last.

Live like you’re going to be imprisoned one day for a long while

Would you wish you used your time better? Would you wish you stopped to think before doing stupid shit? How would you live today knowing your freedom would be taken away one day?

Yes, I know that you're good person, but everybody fucks up.

Live like your one true love will stop loving you one day

And then they simply pack up and go. A big breakup ensues. How would you continue on? How would you fight through the pain? How would you feel to be alone now with a void knowing your significant other you wanted to spend the rest of your life with doesn’t want you anymore?

Live like you’ll be fired at the peak of your career

Because shit happens. It doesn’t matter if you were a good worker or not. Would you feel like you wasted your entire life? How do you handle the idea that the company you worked for doesn't appreciate you? Would you ask yourself why you didn’t do it for yourself instead?

Live like you’re going to be disabled at the peak of your health

Because of accidents and stuff. Would you have made better use of your body? Would you have done the things you considered doing, albeit halfheartedly? Would you cry and yearn for those bodily functions again?

Live like you’ll be blind one fine day

Would you start to appreciate the little things around you? Would you wish for the sight of every little beauty around you again?

Live like you’ll lose it all one day

Would you have spent that money instead of worrying about losing it, while it’s mostly sitting there being useless?

Live like you’ll inevitably realize you’ll be unhappy anyway despite being a good person

So what does everything around you really mean today? Does anyone care? Is being a good person even worth it?

Don't live everyday like it's your last then.

Ultimately, just live and have fun.
