PlayStudio is an education center in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. As far as education centers go, PlayStudio is a maverick because they try to give equal emphasis on academics and a child's overall development.
Many schools and centers place a strong emphasis on studies. This is not a bad thing, but consider the goal, many schools focus on exams instead of learning. That's because you can prepare a child for exams through practice and memorization. Such a method is fast and gets you good results.
However, in time, especially in universities or in the workplace, they may face difficulties in coping. Throughout my career I have seen students who excel in school but fail in university for precisely the same reason. In order to correctly prepare your child to learn, you need time, patience and guidance. Knowledge in this case is not as important as teacher guidance. That is what PlayStudio is all about.
I spoke to the founder and head teacher of PlayStudio, Bernard Yap. He has a heart for the children and tries his level best to guide them in learning. He believes that once you develop their character, it will lead them to scoring well in school and in life. PlayStudio employs a balance between guiding, mentoring and teaching to prepare the child for this challenging world.
