NONG KHAI THAILAND
Nong Khai is one of the provincial capital cities in Thailand that lies on the Mekong River and it is popular mainly due to the Buddhist Lent festival and Naga fireballs.
The incident of the Naga fireballs is more often during the full moon in October so most of the people travel to see them during that time.

Naga Fireballs of Mekong lights are a so-called natural phenomenon. The lights are red to reddish fireballs sized from sparks to a basketball that quickly rise above the river a few hundred meters in the air, before vanishing.
I have no idea but this is so disturbing for me, I see no reason why the various people around the world would like to go there, to experience that on their own or even wanted to see it. This just reeks of danger to me.
The other freaky detail is that the number of these fireballs can vary from tens to even the thousands of fireballs per single night.
One more reason to keep your ass away, but no, the humans were so 'inspired' by those lights, they even built a thematical festival around the whole thing.
Not even the researches these things could be explained.
The second very interesting thing is the gigantic sculptures in the Sala Keoku park. Some of them are even 20 meters tall.

The park was made by the idea of the mystic Luang Pu Bunleua Sulilat who was exiled from Laos. He died in 1996.
Other than the freakish light show the town offers a genuine Thai climate and vegetation, admirable landscapes, waterfalls - they have an abundance of water - forest temples, green areas, but also the affordable accommodation for the tourist and nice food.
According to the Lonely Planet, the prices are more than affordable.
