The Customer Is Always Right

the customer is always right
The customer is always right. It is a phrase that is commonly used in any kind of businesses. It is also the phrase that every business owner or employer should always remember for a satisfied customer. By that it means, you have to comply for what they want no matter how impossible it is. The question is, does that apply every time? Do you have to give what they want all the time? As for me, it is not and here are the reasons. Read the rest of the post to find out.

When does the customer is always right should apply?

Well, from my observation, it is mostly applied to food, clothing, and accessories. In other words, it is applied to any business with a physical product. It only applies to these because when the consumer is not satisfied with the product, they can return it to the seller for a change. Actually, not all sellers allow that. Some of them have a no return no refund policy.

When does it not apply?

The aforementioned phrase is apparently applicable to businesses without physical products. The examples are digital products, online courses, subscriptions or bills, and business investments. These are the ones that have a fixed price already and obviously you cannot return them. Except for the digital products like a website or graphic design because you can ask them to change or edit it if you are not satisfied. As for the subscriptions or bills, you have the right to cancel them especially if you are not using it regularly. And most online courses and business investments offer refunds.

The conclusion.

No matter what business you are in, it is always important to remember that the priority is to satisfy the customers. When a customer is happy, they would be likely to come back to you no matter how many times.

It's good to remind that there always can be some exceptions to that rule. When you work with sales, especially when you're face to face with the customer, it's easy to just try to follow that rule, and that sometimes lead to some people trying to take advantage of your good will or just plain being an asshole for no particular reason. And that always eventually leads to burnout for the salespeople.

It's healthier to remind that.
