Farewell Birthday Party

Last friday was one of my co-worker's birthday and also her last day in our company. She had worked here 26 years and today on her 55th birthday, would be her last day in the company, she should enter the new phase of her life, retirement.

On Thursday, we decided to make a piece of paper full of words and sentences for her, it would be included our testimony of her, but we cancelled it because we couldn't find the photo of us with her. Her office was on 5th floor, while we were on 3rd floor.

So on friday morning we went upstair to greet her a happy birthday and also to take a picture with her. Here was one of our pictures.

Then after took a photo with her, she gave us an invitation like book, to put our testimony of her.

She also invited us to join them at lunch time to celebrate her birthday. Ok, then we got back to our floor, then i got an idea to make her an unforgettable scrap sketch book, which i posted before

At around 11.20, our phone rang. She invited us to go to 5th floor, to have a celebration lunch. But there was a bit problem, 2 of my co-workers still haven't go back from taking our gift to her (which was a cartoon of her, we booked to the painter near here) and a little problem that my sketch for the book hadn't finished.

She kept calling us, and we called our friends to know if the painter hadn't finished the drawing or not. Luckily it had just finished and they ran to get back to us. We asked them to meet us at the party took place, at 5th floor.

Then we arrived and not waiting for a long time, our friends came also on the 5th floor. The birthday woman, asked the head of department to give a message and then she also gave her message to us, and she cried. We were all sad because she had to go to the retirement period, but that's life...people come and go. I don't like goodbye but we all need to face it, whether we like it or not.

Now the dish, the food was Tumpeng, it was Indonesian Nasi Kuning (Yellow rice) made in a cone shape, and also all the complimentaries (Indonesian fried chicken, Empal suwir - shredded beef, Balado kentang - potato with spicy chilli sauce, chicken satay, fried noodle and so on). She also provided asinan.

The food was great, here was what i ate.

We were all happy at the party.

And also she gave dessert, pudding, es potong (cut ice) and also the goodie bag. I felt like i was back to my childhood time :).

And in the afternoon after the sketch book finished, we went back to the 5th floor and i asked my manager to give the book to her. She was surprised and really glad of what i made.
