DustSweeper - Turn Dust into Profit!

Every week, I search the deepest corners of the steem platform to look for a new or underrated tool that I think would be of interest to some of you.

This week I didn't have to search that deep in order to find this interesting service. As I was browsing my feed yesterday, I stumbled upon this post shared by @davemccoy: Minnow/Newbie Palooza Is Live NOW (Over $100 SBDs in Free Prizes, Giveaways, and Upvotes). It's a special event at @newbiegames where they try to connect newbies and minnows to what is currently "hot" in the Steemiverse.

If you are a newbie/minnow who is into easy contests and all the while having a chance of interacting with your fellow newbies/minnows or even veterans here on Steem, then I highly suggest following @newbiegames and @davemccoy as they are constantly doing events like this one.

Anyway, what caught my attention to that post is this one: #2 On The Hot List - DustSweeper

What is DustSweeper?

The above image pretty sums up what DustSweeper is all about. DustSweeper is an automated bot service which picks up all your comments that falls below the dust threshold and upvotes them in order to make sure that it reaches above the minimum of $0.02. Simple as that! This simple and pretty awesome service is created by witness @danielsaori.

If this is your first time hearing of the Dust Threshold, then yes it is true. I've written an article about this months ago Today I Learned about the Dust Threshold to which I encourage you all to read. But the gist is that:

Currently if a post/comment earns 0.001 to 0.019 SBD worth of rewards - this is rounded down to 0.00. If a post/comment earns at least 0.02 SBD - then they receive their reward.

You read that one right. If a post or comment gets only less than $0.02, at the time of payout (or after 7 days) it is rounded down to $0.00. This is also one of the main reason why I always upvote at around $0.03 to make sure that even if the price of Steem goes way down, my vote would still probably be at least above $0.02 by the time of payout.

How does DustSweeper works?

I know I should taken a good comment as an example, but I guess the above image is the most perfect one to illustrate how awesome DustSweeper is.

The above comment according to GINABot only received $0.017 but is rounded up to $0.02 in Steemit. Assuming that the price of Steem is stable and will not go up, at the time of payout (after 7 days) instead of getting $0.017 I would get $0.00 or literally nothing from that awesome comment just because it falls below the $0.02 Dust Threshold. Seems kind of unfair, isn't it? XD

Now this is where DustSweeper comes in. DustSweeper will upvote all my comments that falls below the dust threshold (<$0.02) and is at least greater than $0.00 on the 5th/6th day it is posted. Right now, DustSweeper is voting at $0.032. So for my example above, instead of getting literally $0.00 or nothing from it due to the dust threshold, I am now getting at least $0.049($0.017+$0.032). The $0.017 vote is not anymore a waste.

This is quite useful when you interact with newbies/minnows whose vote falls below the minimum threshold or cheapskate people (kidding of course :p) who votes below the minimum. Now a $0.003 vote on you is not anymore a complete waste because of DustSweeper.

Sounds Great! How to avail of the DustSweeper service?

All you literally have to do is to send some Steem/SBD into the @dustsweeper account and that's it! Sit back, Relax and Wait for a post/comment of yours that falls below the dust threshold on its 5th/6th day.

Every SBD/STEEM sent to @dustsweeper is normally doubled and keep the balance on hand. For every dust vote that is casted by @dustsweeper, half of the value of the upvote is taken from your balance. So right now with the current upvote value of $0.032, $0.016 is taken from my $2 balance per vote casted.
