Compendium games were so popular when growing up, each box had different games if I remember correctly. Pick up sticks, Tiddlywinks, Chinese checkers, deck of cards to play Rummy. Being 4 children selection varied to what was played (cheated), we had to share, Rummy 4 x 7 cards each always to highest points earned...

Actual board games Draughts was popular along with Snakes and Laders, as you mentioned we were not indoor children, very seldom we played board games except when doing long trips by train in the evenings, under supervision.
