The Business (O Negócio) is a Brazilian television series whose plot is immersed in the controversial subject of prostitution in our society. The story revolves around 5 main characters, where four of them are women who do sex work and one of them is a pimp.
The main theme of this television series is to highlight the contradictory nature of the people who practice and contract prostitution. The development of the series is very complex and our main character Karin is in charge of the progress of the characters. We can see that with each chapter there is a breakthrough that is being made so that prostitution can be qualified as a respectable business in the population.
When the characters were sufficiently developed personally and professionally they took on the greatest challenge of their lives. This challenge includes the simple fact of revealing to their families who they really are, that is, confessing the secret they have kept for a long time and telling them that they are prostitutes or pimps.
This decision reflected by the characters can be seen not only in fiction, but also in the personal life of each person. This difficult situation of confessing who you really are to the world and your family can be complicated when it comes to things that are not very well regarded by society.
We know that there are complicated things for society to accept, such as being homosexual or confessing to your father that you don't want to follow in his footsteps, these are some situations we can describe. But what's most important for the characters in the series and for the people in reality is that their families accept, understand, respect and integrate into that part of you.
Sometimes not everything is rosy when we confess what we want and what we do, we often get different reactions from our families. For the characters in the series, different reactions also occur with their parents.
Mia.
She described to her classmates the reactions her parents would have to the confession. Her mother reacted as she described it, remained silent and was also right that father would start breaking things.
But her father began to follow her and constantly harass her clients. The harassment situation ends when Ariel the pimp sets a trap for him with one of his prostitutes and records it and then blackmails him.

This girl went to visit her parents who live in their own hotel on the outskirts of town. Since Magali arrives at the hotel they try to avoid her, even though she insists she wants to talk to them about something important.
Her parents know she's going to confess to being a prostitute and that's why they avoid her. They debate that they should take a rejection attitude and that means they should stop receiving the money Magali sends them. In their diatribe they decide to leave the hotel so that Magali doesn't tell them, but she surprises them at the door and already aware that they knew, she reprimands them.
Luna.

Luna was always under Karin's company. She tries to confess to her parents but it is very complicated for her, because she is a very close family with backward principles of society. So he tries to confess to his mom first and then tell his dad together. The father of the moon finally finds out and decides to leave the house to be alone.
Ariel.
Ariel was Karin's pimp, and then he became her partner. It is also difficult for him to tell her mother, but she still decides to visit her at the nursing home where they are. In the first attempt he fails and his mother ends up telling him a story about his childhood, in the second attempt he tells him without any preamble when he arrives and his mother reacts with a slap telling him that he is no longer his son.
Ariel tries to visit his mother after the last attempt, he sits next to her and gives her some chocolates, she begins to tell him the same story of her childhood and it is at that moment where Ariel has a second chance, due to her mother's mental illness he will be able to continue trying to confess several times and in a thousand ways to gain her acceptance.
Karin.
Karin is the protagonist of the story, she was left alone since she was very young because her mother was constantly traveling. When Karin confesses to her mother, she accepts it at first, but then changes her mind when she read a preview of the book about her daughter's life and spoke about her as a distant mother, and that was the reason for her radical change.
The television series took several reactions that parents may have and captured them in that chapter. In life we are constantly faced with countless negative comments about our decisions and we must be prepared to deal with any kind of reaction. It is necessary to trust in what we decide and this trust will give us the strength to continue without anyone affecting our life.
