RE: Joining Yīn & Yàng, Part 2

“before enlightenment: chop wood, carry water. After enlightenment: chop wood, carry water”.

I love this - enlightenment isn't the end - you still have to carry on the work. It's a great aphorism.

This model on the other hand allows our consciousness to rise above the conditioned understanding of gender and heteronormative understandings of sexuality (as well as notions of sacredness).

YES! Love it. I love that you included this. I've never been one to stick to the whole man woman thing. Yawn.

It struck me, as I was reading the minuses and pluses, how we're not really taught about sex in the same way we're taught about other things - it's something you either just do to get your rocks off, following base desires, or you study it and read about it and learn about it as much as you can because you know there's an inherent sacredness about it. I feel sad for those so shut off from feeling in the body that sex will never be 'extraordinary'.

Is that dwarf chained up so it's not let loose with his big donger?

Re: inclusiveness — we all have yīnyáng within us irrespective of what biological sex we are. That is what is meant by gender being constructed; unfortunately there’s a whole of people who don’t get that.

Those same people are probably also not getting a lot of other things.

Sexual energy can be garnered without penetration, hence why the heteronormative model is not necessary even though these texts describe as such.

The boddhisattva probably works harder than you and I, even though they’re enlightened beings. It’s part of what’s attracted me to Mahayana/chán/vajrayana/Tantra.... because it’s about grounding everything back into normal, everyday, common experience.

And yes, I believe that’s why he’s chained 😉🍆
