I'm surprised at the Independent but both papers seem to be scrabbling around for "news" stories to justify their existence. As you say later in the article, young people today are increasingly sensible - I think teenage pregnancy is also going down?
Any danger of any real news like what's happening in Nicaragua?

I think all the indicators show 'better lives' for young people overall, except the obvious issue of economic prosperity.

I find the Indy unreadable these days - too many ads.
