Dinawan Escapades

in #steempress6 years ago (edited)

Exactly a week ago, we had a successful Borneo Blockchain Summit (BBS) event held in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. It was a joyful day with fruitful knowledge about blockchain and how it can impact our daily lives. Yes, the event has ended with so much positivity from the participants. We are considering to plan another educational event like this, maybe in near future.

Check out my previous post about this event here.

Borneo Blockchain Summit is a two days event which serves day 1 as the main event and day 2 as an optional island trip for a networking session.

09th September 2018

All of us had to be at the jetty by 0900 am to catch the boat to Dinawan island. Known as a private island, Dinawan located in the West Coast of Sabah and caressed by the warm gentle water of the South China Sea. It took us approximately 20 minutes to get there by boat from the jetty in Kinarut. Thanked God the weather is pretty lovely that day and we had a smooth boat ride to the island.

When we arrived at the island, we were welcomed by Ara Dinawan staff with a tasty, refreshing welcome drink.

@veenang had given us a short briefing about the available facilities on the island and he'd also gave us the news that we had the whole island to ourselves, literally. Yes, no sharing with others! Haha.

After the briefing has ended, without wasting time any further, some us jumped straight into the water for snorkeling. Some of us even signed up for some watersports activity.

We had to take a break from the non-stop water activities and had our sumptuous lunch in a relaxing setting under the trees.

The owner even had spared his time to meet us and showed us around his property.

I noticed @gelfire was taking this picture. Hence the smile 😬

It was then we heard a thunder and saw the skies are gradually getting darker. We knew that we need to leave the island before the weather's getting bad but we had so much fun at the island. The guys even go for a quick swim until the boat skipper had to come to us and told it is time to leave.

The boat ride going back to the jetty is quite challenging for us. I overheard the conversation between the boat skipper and his assistant that we might get stuck on a sandbar due to low tides. After struggling a few times to avoid running aground, he managed to bring us back to the jetty safely.

We really had an amazing time on Dinawan Island and had lots of fun and laughs. Thank you so much to Totally Borneo Holidays for arranging the trip and too @veenang for making it possible.
