Psychology - It’s Time to QUIT!

in #steempress6 years ago (edited)

Too many times we have been told to “Never give up” “Winners Never Quit” and all that fancy motivational stuff about never giving up, but to keep driving and pushing, and that goal, that promotion, that thing we desire will eventually come to pass. If we will be honest enough to look at things in our lives, and in the lives of the people around, there are times where they could have quit, or stop being in a toxic relationship that it could have saved them a lot of the trouble they are currently facing.

On the contrary, there are situations where you just have to slug it out and keep grinding, and eventually, your long-awaited breakthrough will come through, but this post is about those times where the best course of action is simply for you to walk away, because spending one more minute in that situation will just be a colossal waste your time, and we all know that time is all we have in the life that we are living.

So, here are some scenarios whereby QUITTING might be the best thing to do

Toxic Relationship

One of the worst things to happen to anyone is to have a close friend, family member, or partner that abuses you. This abuse can be verbal, emotional or even physical, depending on your relationship with this person, I believe some steps can be taken especially if this person is just a friend. For starters, you can try talking to this friend in a courteous manner, being firm but courteous at the same time, informing the person of your discontentment with their abusive nature. If this doesn’t work out, you can try staying away from them for a while, showing them that their actions come with consequences, if this still doesn’t help. Then that may not be the best for, and you should consider quitting, as you won’t be doing yourself much good by staying around someone who doesn’t value you enough to make changes to his character especially when it seems to be a problem.

When the relationship is with a family member or a partner either a spouse or someone you are dating, this situation might be a little more emotional as the person in question is a loved one. You can try the above-mentioned strategy, and if you don’t get the desired result, you may want to involve a third party, a professional to help out. A psychologist or a shrink, to help provide steps you guys can take to remedy things, but if that doesn’t work out too well also, you owe yourself peace of mind. And this will also be a good time to quit that relationship and move on from them, as you will be doing this for yourself and the loved one. But they need to know that their action has consequences too.

Delayed Promotion/Career Switch

It can be terrifying when considering quitting your job, especially if you don’t have another job lined up, or a side business to pay the bills, but when you are in a job that doesn’t offer you much, and the one you hate showing up at work. Sunday evenings, your stomach churns at the thought of resuming work the next day, these are signs that you should probably consider your options. You should consider changing your position at the workplace, either get
a promotion, the increase in responsibility may make your job more challenging, and exciting, hence taking the boredom out of the equation. But, if all these are not on the table, then you should consider looking elsewhere for fulfilment in your work.

If you have a business idea you want to try out, it is not wise to just quit your job and dive straight into this idea, it will definitely come with some stern repercussions such as going hungry for an extended period of time. It will be wise to keep your job, and during the weekends and evening, depending on the nature of this new business, you should work on it as a side-project. Keep at this for months, let your job pay the bills when your business starts demanding for you full-time to run it and is also generating decent revenue, then it will be a good time to switch jobs. Then, you will have something to fall back on, as you will already have savings to fall back on, as well the cash flow your business is generating.

Terimkasih telah membaca dan mohon maaf lahir dan bathin juga :)

Quiting on unsuccessful adventure is ok. One need to know when to continue and keep on fighting and when to give up and do something else. Most of us spend too much time staying in unproductive ventures or unfavourable circumstances because we don't want to be seen as quiters. Anything that doesn't have a good prospect should be abandoned because spending much time and effort in it won't change it from being unprofitable.

That is correct! But every business is sure to get maximum results, so if we really sure I think it's better than giving up before starting :) thanks for reading
